The Old Farmhouse

We are based in the village of Rudgwick, situated on the West Sussex/Surrey borders, amongst some of the most beautiful and stunning countryside in southern England. We occupy 1½ acres of gardens and a 5-acre field. Our scenic premises sit within the award-winning landscaped gardens of remarkable natural beauty.

Our fully restored 16th-century oak-timbered ‘Shelley’s Barn’ was in the family of the great English romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792 – 1822) for 5 generations.

The tranquil and relaxing setting is also used for the popular SongTrees Concerts, activity and events.   Performances by chamber music groups and jazz ensembles have featured as part of our popular programme of solo concerts. Artists and performers for SongTrees Concerts are drawn from an impressive array of gifted and talented young musicians, as well as established and eminent practitioners of national and international repute.

These facilities are also perfect for meetings, workshops and training sessions. Full in-house catering and refreshments can also be provided.

Our gardens and the well-kept lawns offer a unique and natural setting for outdoor performance events. With seating to accommodate up to 100 people our facilities provide a wonderful option for staging concerts and performances.

Caspian Roberson is our award-winning landscape designer.  He has extensively designed and developed the gardens, and is responsible for the visually outstanding landscape.  In recognition of his talents and abilities he has been awarded the Best in Show and Gold Medals at the Malvern and Moscow Flower shows. He was also featured on BBC TV Gardeners World for his showcase garden at Hampton Court. Caspian continues to develop the gardens and his future ambitious plans will see him further enhance and bring out the gardens' natural beauty.
